The new Dordtse Biesbosch is a varied nature and recreational area (to be) near Dordrecht.
It has the size of 530 hectare and is situated south of the Zeedijk.
The new Dordtse Biesbosch has been realized for 3 goals:
Installing this new siphon near the Eastern haven will improve the water quality at the Isle of Dordrecht.
A stunning panorama point has been installed on top of the siphon, with a view on the river and on the new Dordtse Biesbosch.
The incoming water will flow through the entire area, to be let out at the pumping station Johannes Vis. Because of this water flow (max. 57 m3 per minute) the water quality improves, for people and nature. The capacity of the pumping station will also be used to keep Dordrecht dry in case of heavy raining.
