Water board Hollandse Delta, Evides Water company and the Department of Public Works are working together, by order of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, on necessary compensating measures for the executing of the ‘Gap resolution’.
The Gap resolution means that the Haringvliet locks will be opened slightly when the water level is lower than at sea.
This is important for the international fish migration. It also provides the entrance of salt water, to make the western part of the Haringvliet salter. Sweet water will remain guaranteed east of Middelharnis and The Spui.
The inlet pumping station provides enough sweet water from the Haringvliet to the watering system inside the dikes. By a siphon pipeline at dike table height, water will be let in to the pumping basement inside the dikes and under ground level, under free decline. This inlet pumping station can also discharge water from the polder and the sweet water canal to the Haringvliet, when the water level inside the polder should be too high.
CCI Leidingsystemen delivered, prefabricated, coated and installed this pipelines, by order of GMB.
These pipelines work as Siphon, which means there is a low pressure at the highest point.
The design of these pipelines meets the conditions in the NEN 3650-serie and the guideline Artworks.
The several wall thicknesses (1220 x 17,5 and 1220 x 25,0) and radi (R=5D and R=10D) made this pipeline a complex project.
Outside we provided the pipelines with a PE-coating and inside with an epoxy-system.
With pumping station De Volharding in Strijensas and the new developed pumping station in Putten this is the third project with WSHD shortly, where CCI Leidingsystemen has delivered the pressure lines.
